| at the same time, its always nice to buy top notch parts. Kind of your call, if you take your time, have the shop manual, and once again, take your time, i say go for it. Its always nice to have someone that has built a motor successfully sitting around helping. Avoid having friends that think they can help because they have installed a cold air intake. Also keep the area your working CLEAN. Dust/particles are the bad news to an exposed engine. Also on the bottom end. Not many machine shops have a deck plate for a VG30 which is critical depending on the bore you go with. You can squeeze by without it on a smaller overbore but it should be a must when going .040 or something. Might want to check around locally on the deckplates. Goodluck
