Message at the same time, its always nice to buy top notch parts.

Kind of your call, if you take your time, have the shop manual, and once again, take your time, i say go for it. Its always nice to have someone that has built a motor successfully sitting around helping. Avoid having friends that think they can help because they have installed a cold air intake. Also keep the area your working CLEAN. Dust/particles are the bad news to an exposed engine.

Also on the bottom end. Not many machine shops have a deck plate for a VG30 which is critical depending on the bore you go with. You can squeeze by without it on a smaller overbore but it should be a must when going .040 or something. Might want to check around locally on the deckplates.

Goodluck
